Cortoon Trio Help Galway Win Connacht u21 Title

Paul Varley, Cathal Mulryan, and Adrian Varley all started for Galway as they won the Connacht u21 title after an enthralling game in Dr. Hyde Park in Roscommon. With five minutes to go, Galway trailed by 3 points but managed to pull it back to force extra-time and from then on they never looked back. Mulryan opened the scoring with a somewhat fortuitous goal after his shot from distance dropped short but the keeper lost sight of it in the sun and fumbled the ball over the line. Paul Varley had a quiet game by his own high standards but still managed to get forward whenever possible to help out the attack and managed to get himself on the scoresheet. With star forward, Shane Walsh, having a rare off-game, it was left to Adrian Varley to lead the line in attack and, although he didn't get on the scoresheet himself, the majority of Galway's scores came as a result of his assists. It was a great victory for Galway against the reigning Champions and Cortoon can be extremely proud of our 3 lads who have been regulars in the starting 15 throughout the campaign. Final score: Galway 1-17 Roscommon 2-11 (after extra-time). The All-Ireland semi-final will be played on Sat 20th April where they will face Leinster Champions, Kildare.
Congratulations must also go to the minor team who clinched the League title after a 2-9 to 0-13 victory, also over Roscommon, in the earlier game.
