On April 22nd 2014, Cortoon Shamrocks GAA club will celebrate 126 years of existence. This has been made possible because of the overwhelming backing we have always enjoyed from our loyal supporters, often in very difficult circumstances. Cortoon Shamrocks GAA club would like to take this opportunity to invite you and your family members to attend an Open Forum Meeting in the Cortoon Hall on Sunday January 19th 2014 at 3:00pm. The objective of this gathering is to encourage members of the community to participate and contribute in ensuring the future success of the club, both adult and juvenile. We value new ideas, fresh opinions and constructive feedback. Lifting a trophy in September is a culmination of hard work carried out both on and off the field. Everyone celebrates the team but success is only possible with the diligence of the unsung heroes standing in the shadows. The late Nelson Mandela once said: "It is the light that frightens us, not the dark." What we can accomplish if we pull together is infinite. Let us start that journey next Sunday.

With the start of the football season just a matter of weeks away, the Club Officers have been hard at work in the background ensuring everything is in place for what we hope will be another successful season. Following on from the AGM just before Christmas, a number of positions remained unfilled and we are delighted to announce that these have now been filled. Padraic McGagh has taken over as Underage Chairman with Enda Cannon coming in as Assistant Treasurer. The Senior management team has also been put in place with Mickey Costello being ratified at an Executive Committee meeting last week. Michael John Concannon is returning as a selector alongside Brian Walsh and Strength & Conditioning Coach, Cathal Furey who have both agreed to stay on for another year while Tom Newell is returning in anan advisory capacity. The under 21 team will kick off the football season withwith the first round of the Championship provisionally pencilled in for the 9th February with the draw taking place tonight (Wed). They will be guided on their journey by the new management team of Martin Maloney, Darragh Glynn and Norman Connolly.

Midweek training will soon be able to re-commence when the floodlights, which were very generously donated to us by Dunmore McHales GAA Club, are installed on Friday evening to replace the lights that were stolen from Brownsgrove last year. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Dunmore McHales for their generosity.

We are now taking orders for our new Club hoodie which is priced at €30 and can be viewed on our website. A deposit of €10 can be paid to any member of the committee to submit your order.
