Message from the Chairman:

At the outset, can I, as Chairman of Cortoon Shamrocks, and on behalf of my fellow Officers, wish all our members and supporters at home or in other lands a very happy and healthy 2014. Being elected Chairman of the Shamrocks to me was a great honour, when I think of all the great people that held the position down through the years. I am also very conscious of the major task that the job entails, but having said that, I with the help of all the Officers will do my best to live up to the standards set by those that preceded me, they will be a hard act to follow. Most encouraging for me is the amount of people that have offered to help at some level for the coming year, but we need more, especially at under-age level, and be sure and attend the upcoming under-age AGM. For more information on this, and other events during the year, read the Club notes. If you haven’t been asked or offered already, don’t forget to give your name to any member of the Committee, as the saying goes, a job shared being shared is a job being halved, and going forward don’t ask what your Club can do for you, but say what can I do for my Club, and with that attitude being adopted by all, our Club can only be a much better place. Looking forward to working with, and for, you all for the coming twelve months.

In December, we reported that Kieran Kelly, Brian Walsh, and Leo Hynes were part of the Galway squad that won the All-Ireland Masters title. We neglected to mention that Paul Bradley, who also starred in the previous year’s All-Ireland success, was also a key member of the current title winning squad. Apologies for the omission.
