The following evening, the opposition was the same, this time on their turf, as Milltown hosted the Minor team in their final league game. The venue may have been different but the outcome was the same. Again, Cortoon was quick out of the blocks. On three minutes, Darragh Browne received the ball about 30 yards out, he faked to shoot but, instead, fed Martin Connell who cut inside and hit a left foot shot low into the corner of the net. Milltown replied with a point before Cortoon increased their lead with three of their own and led by 1-3 to 0-1 after twelve minutes. They weren’t to score again though for the remainder of the half as Milltown took control with six unanswered points to lead by one at the break. Points were exchanged at the start of the second half when, after a Martin Connell point, a mistake from the kick-out led to a goalmouth scramble and Gary Clarke was quickest to react and prod the ball home. Milltown drew level on 46 minutes following three points without reply before they were caught by a quick break which sent Martin Connell clear and he made no mistake finishing to the net. The goal seemed to knock the wind out of Milltown and Cortoon, led by the impressive Martin Connell, who amassed a personal tally of 2-5, all from play, drove on to win the match by 3-9 to 0-12. Team: Robert Canavan, Conor Flynn, Richard McWalter, Eric McHugh, Conor McLoughlin, Paul Higgins, Darragh Browne, Gary Clarke (1-0), Ross Holian, Martin Connell (2-5), Daniel Fleming (0-1), Peter Finnerty (0-2), Dylan Lowry.
