Under 13 Unlucky in Play-Off

posted 19 Mar 2013, 16:35 by Unknown user

The Under 13 team played Killererin in Barnaderg on Monday afternoon in a play-off for a place in the League Shield final. Luck wasn’t with them on the day as, despite having more scores on the board, they were unlucky to lose by 6-3 to 3-7. Goals from Darragh Carroll, James Hogan, and Niall Finnerty were not enough as a five minute spell either side of half-time yielded four goals and two points for the hosts to knock the stuffing out of a Cortoon side which looked comfortable up to that point. It brings an end to the season for the squad who can hold their heads up high in the knowledge that  they gave it their all from the first minute of the campaign to the very last.  Team: Donie Halleran; Niall Finnerty (1-1), Eoghan Fleming; Adam Geoghegan, Darragh Carroll (1-0), Peter Fleming; Kevin Kelly (0-1), Hugh McDonagh (0-1); Oisin O’Rourke (0-1), Alex Fitzpatrick, James Clarke; Calvin Tierney (0-1), James Hogan (1-2). Subs: Enda O’Neill, Thomas Hynes, Eoin Fitzpatrick, Daniel Carroll, Diarmuid O’Rourke.
